Leave the strips. Take the light.

The adhesive-backed strips attach to clean, dry glass. Matching hook-and-loop strips hold the panel in place and separate when you want to remove it. To attach it again, align the strips and press together.

Prepare: clean and dry the mounting surface.
Attach: follow the supplied adhesive and mounting instructions.
Reattach: align the hook-and-loop strips and press firmly.

Detachable refers to the hook-and-loop connection. It does not mean the adhesive strips can be repositioned indefinitely or will leave every surface residue-free.
